Description
St. James is recognized as one of the oldest Anglican churches in Eastern Ontario in continuous use. It was built in 1827 by Irish Anglicans who were determined to avoid any hint of "popishness" in their church architecture. The austere interior was later re-done in a modest Gothic Revival style. This little stone church still stands as a memorial to the hardy pioneers who built it.
